The Centre for Spirituality at Work offers programs to help you deepen the connection between who you are and the work you do. You might be employed, self-employed, under-employed, searching, retired, a volunteer, or some combination – the key is to find purpose, meaning, and fulfillment in whatever you regard as your work, your service.  Leaders and participants practice any faith tradition, or may call themselves “spiritual-not-religious”. Programs take place near Yonge & Bloor in the Toronto Grace Hospital chapel.

The Enneagram: Fundamentals at Work

The Enneagram is a powerful system for understanding human motivation that offers amazing insights into the way we perceive and relate. The Enneagram differs from Myers-Briggs by focusing on motivation, beliefs, and inner habits of thinking and feeling.   You find your place on the Enneagram through your inner experience rather than your outer behaviour.  Discover or confirm your style through lively panel discussions of each type.  Learn to apply the Enneagram in your work and personal life as a tool for self-awareness, leadership, relationships and teambuilding.  Profound insights for both the new and the long-time practitioner!

Finding Vocation: Clarity + Courage = Confidence

Most people spend more time planning a vacation than they do thinking about their life.  In order to move forward with confidence and find your vocation, both clarity and courage are necessary.  This program gives you time for personal self-reflection, sharing with a partner, and group discussion, all within the context of the discernment model, Clarity and Courage.  Come with your musings about your career restlessness, your retirement, your job loss, or other major life changes.  And enjoy the live piano music that will help us on the journey.

Work Like You Don’t Need the Money!

What we do to make a living can cost more than you or Earth can afford. Work that makes a meaningful life, one that’s spiritually fulfilling, environmentally sustainable, socially just, and respects our integrity is invaluable. Learn three creative approaches.  A new spirituality of work is based on the recovered teachings of the Mystics, global religions, and the paths of Creation Spirituality.  A new cosmology of work expands our inherited stories, cultural myths and the legends that define our work habits with alternative governing ethics and principles taught by the ways of the Universe.  The Reinvention of Work is enabled by mentoring stories, practical techniques, and plausible next steps toward change.  Grounded in the work of Matthew Fox, Thomas Berry, Margaret Wheatley.

Rev. Dr. Carol Kilby, Director of the Gaia Centre for Eco-Spirituality and Sustainable Work in Haliburton (www.GaiaCentre.org), refired United Church minister, teacher, therapeutic recreationist.

Marketing & Communicating with Spirit

We all have something we want to “sell” or invite others to do. Buying our services, behaving differently, joining our group, doing something for us, even dating-and-relating with us! Yet the idea of promoting or marketing ourselves may turn us off or go against our values.  Whether you hate “marketing" – or love it with a passion – join us. Bring your issues to work on. Learn to listen to what spirit is calling you to share, and to what others really want/need. Discover what’s blocking you, how to honour your values and integrity, and find ways to communicate that feel right for you, from the inside out.

Eric Hellman has been marketing projects for 30 years. A writer, consultant and coach in applying spirit at work, he’s co-author of the bestseller, Leadership from Within, and author of Coming Out of the Spiritual Closet.
